Personalised Oliver's Taranga M53 Shiraz 2018 14.5% 750ML

In 1839 William and Elizabeth Oliver travelled to South Australia from Scotland and eventually settled in 1841 on land at McLaren Vale. Whitehill and Taranga farms, the names given to the northern and southern sections of this land, are located 2 km north of McLaren Vale overlooking the township. Taranga is a corruption of the aboriginal word Tarangk, meaning ‘the middle' which was used by the Kaurna, a local aboriginal tribe. Sheep and cattle were raised and orchards and vineyards were planted immediately upon arrival and the family prospered.

AROMA
Blackberry jam with cream on toast, caramelised quince, sweet oak, violet, rose and sage florals, candied orange peel, spice and dried herb. Very expressive, yet understated and creating an incredible sensory experience.

PALATE
Rich mulberry pie, chocolate and spices. Sweet cola and vanillan oak frames a super textured, creamy mouthfeel that keeps on giving. Sublimely integrated full flavour dance over the palate. Loads to love here.

VINTAGE NOTES
2018 is one of the vintages of the decade. Perfect ripening, good solid crops, strong winter rain and lack of heat waves made it pretty near perfect!

CELLARING POTENTIAL
15+ years.

RANGE NOTES
M53 is the original horse and cattle brand used by our ancestors on the ‘Taranga’ property in the 1880’s. Back then it marked our finest herd, now it marks our finest wine. Released only in exceptional vintages, the M53 is a rare beast and made in tiny volumes.
