Dino Carletti entered the world of viticulture in 1961 to maintain a living contact with the place and culture of his origins. The name Poliziano pays homage to the 15th Century poet Angelo Ambrogini who hailed from Montepulciano and was knicknamed “Poliziano”.
Dino’s son Federico Carletti took over in 1980 and has since grown Poliziano from 22 to 240 hectares, of which 130 hectares are dedicated to the production of sangiovese or “prugnolo gentile’ as it is locally known, planted predominately on the southern flank of Montepulciano.
Today, the Poliziano wines evoke the historic tradition of the land, but at the same time speak eloquently to the modern world. Theirs is a developing narrative… they retain their original labels, but have matured and evolved over time, always with the objective of uncompromising quality and expression of terroir.

TASTING NOTES

PALATE
Poliziano Chianti Colli Senesi is a black fruited wine with wonderful acidity and fine, ripe tannins.

REGION NOTES
Poliziano decided on a new enological project for a part of the estate called “Pozzi” located at 350-450 m.a.s.l. with views towards the famous San Biagio Church and the township of Montepulciano. The vineyards were replanted at high density (5,200 vines per hectare), with new clones and suitable rootstocks, on very well drained soils of a rocky, clay and slightly skeletal nature.

GRAPES/BLEND
95% Sangiovese, 5% Tuscan red varietals.

VINIFICATION
The varieties are fermented separately in stainless steel conical vats, with the alcoholic fermentation lasting about 10-12 days with Indigenous yeasts and temperatures controlled to 26 degrees Celsius. The wine remains in stainless steel for 6 months prior to release followed by 3 months in bottle.
