Ramos Pinto Quinta da Ervamoira 10 Year Old Tawny Port 19.4% 750ml

Ramos Pinto Quinta da Ervamoira 10 Year Old Tawny Port 19.4% 750ml

In 1976, Ramos Pinto began a detailed and ongoing research project to select the best grape varieties for the production of quality Port. Five varietals selected by Ramos Pinto were subsequently adopted by the Authorities for all new plantings in the region: Touriga Nacional, Touriga Francesa, Tinta Barroca, Tinta Roriz and Tinto Cao. Following ageing of the two to three years at the lodges in Ramos Pinto's Quintas in the Douro Valley, the wines acquire a specific character. They are then brought down to the Vila Nova de Gaia and blended according to the desired style. Port production is governed by very strict regulations whcih guarantee the authenticity of the wines. The Port Wine Institute grants the producer a certificate of origin and a seal of quality only after each blend has been tasted, analysed and approved for export.

Expert Review:
James Molesworth- 91 Points, Pretty, with sandalwood, warm raisin and toffee hints weaving around a core of gently mulled cherry and plum fruit flavors. The sandalwood edge extends through the stylish finish. Drink now.

The House was founded by Adriano Ramos Pinto in 1880. The excellent quality of the wines and the innovative packaging, supported by an advertising campaign based on posters by some of the most famous artists of the time, led to the early success and notoriety of Ramos Pinto. Today, as majority shareholders, the Louis Roederer Family Group perpetuates the policy of quality by continuing to invest in varietal research and viticultural methods combined with respect for tradition and service. Among Port producers, Ramos Pinto has the largest holding of estate vineyards proportionate to wine produced. The Quintas are located in the delimited areas of Cima-Corgo for Quinta do Bom-Retiro and Quinta do Urtiga, and Douro Superior for Quinta da Ervamoira.
