Louis Jadot Morgon Chateau Des Jacques 2019 13% 750ml
The Morgon appellation was created on September 11th, 1936 and covers 1100 hectares, managed by 250 vignerons. Of all the Beaujolais Crus, Morgon displays perhaps the best ageing potential, whilst still representing good drinkability when young. The Cru is divided into 6 Climats which all face south to south east, and are from east to west: Grand Cras, Les Charmes, Côte du Py, Corcelette, Les Micouds and Douby. Louis Jadot purchased Chateau des Jacques in 1996, based in Moulin-a- Vent, and in 2001 they purchased a vineyard located on the northern slopes overlooking Morgon, facing south-south-east, and in the intervening years have retrained the vineyard from gobelot to cordon, and replants to 1.5 metre spacings.
Maison Louis Jadot controls over 150 hectares of vineyards in Burgundy, of which 70 hectares lie in the Côte d’Or: Domaine des Héritiers Louis Jadot, Domaine Louis Jadot, Domaine Gagey and Domaine du Duc de Magenta. Established in 1859 by Louis Henri Denis Jadot, succeeding generations continued to develop the House until the sale to Rudi Kopf ’s company Kobrand in 1985. The injection of capital saw big investment in vineyard acquisition including Chateau des Jacques in Beaujolais and the Cadus Tonnellerie. Pierre-Henri Gagey, current President succeeded his father André Gagey in 1992 and today son Thibault is Deputy General Manager.
