Tasting Notes

Palate
Medium bodied. Signature red fruits and heady spice, coupled with layered tannins make this a delicious addition to the Chatto offering.

Winemakers comments
From a well known (yet undisclosable) vineyard based in Yarra Glen. Our first release of Yarraensis is a fun collaboration, and celebration of Pinot, with some good mates in the famed Yarra Valley. A ‘return of serve’ if you like for the many Victorian winemakers now making wine from Tasmania. Named for the critically endangered Eucalyptus Yarraensis (Yarra Gum).

Vinification
Handpicked. 25% whole bunch. Fermented for 10 days on skins, hand plunged.Indigenous yeast. 20% new French oak.

Vintage notes
2023 was a cool and wet early season. La Niña conditions prevailed through flowering leading to low bunch weights and very small yields. However, mild and dry conditions were enjoyed for the rest of the season providinng high concentration of flavour in a medium bodied package.
