Yabby Lake Pinot Gris 2022 6pack 13% 750ml

Yabby Lake Vineyard was established by the Kirby family in 1998, in Tuerong, which is located in the northern end of the Mornington Peninsula, Victoria. Over the past decade, the vineyard has built a reputation for chardonnay and pinot noir of great purity and character under its Single Vineyard and Single Block Release labels.

Led by winemaker Tom Carson, the Yabby Lake philosophy is to craft wines that speak of our site and the season in which they were grown. It’s the attention and care in the vineyard that is most critical to allowing this expression.

Tasting Notes

AROMA

This pinot gris is refined and fresh, with bright fruit aromas and a lovely floral lift.

PALATE

Beautifully textured palate and delicious depth of fruit - with nashi pear and subtle spices. Seamless and refreshing, the wine finishes long and fine.

VINIFICATION

Our pinot gris is planted in Block 2, in a section of the vineyard on sandy clay loam soils, with iron shot stone and light medium clay. The fruit was hand picked on 28 February and whole bunch pressed. The juice was then cold settled and wild fermented with 50% in stainless steel and 50% in old French puncheons (500L).

VINTAGE NOTES

2022 is a vintage of tiny yields, the lowest in our history. This was due to severe storms during flowering. The positive is, the wines are of exceptional quality.
