WINEMAKERS COMMENTS
Our vineyard was planted on the steep Eastern slopes of the Grampians in 1969. It represented part of the second coming of the Victorian wine industry which had seen very little new plantings since the turn of the century. The region had always had a pedigree for great wines with the first vineyards in Grampians being planted at Bests & Seppelt’s, in the early 1860’s. The vineyard was owned by Trevor Mast and Mount Langi Ghiran, before the Drummond Family (Stonier Winery) purchased it in 2013.
VINIFICATION
Hand picked, chilled and then partial foot stomp for texture. Inoculated and pressed to tank. Very dry, 2gm residual.

This is just how good Grampians riesling can get. Such an underrated star of the region, it can reach some extraordinary levels of complexity, as noted here from the first sniff and taste. Dry and exotic, boasting uncommon complexity in one so young in jasmine, Granny Smith apple, quince, citrus, beeswax, gentle herbal spice in Thai basil and a whisper of white pepper. All combine on a palate that is crunchy, crisp, dry and well composed. Memorable.
