INCHGOWER 27 YEARS OLD SINGLE MALT SCOTCH WHISKY 55.3% 700ML

A 27 year old Inchgower single malt, bottled as part of the Diageo Special Releases 2018. This expression was matured in Refill American oak hogsheads and bottled at cask strength, producing 8,544 bottles. A fascinating expression from the distillery in Speyside.

The first entry in Diageo's Special Releases for northern Speysider Inchgower, part of the 2018 edition of the range. Aged for 27 years in refill American-oak hogsheads, this is a great example of the distillery's fruity and salty spirit – it's by the coast and the distillers swear the sea gives the spirit its salty tang.

TASTING NOTES

NOSE: Lively and vibrant, with pineapple, mango and ginger leaping from the glass like some kind of tropical fruit salad. There's a creamier shortbread vibe and pine needles too, but this one really is all about a peppery punch.

TASTE: Loads of oak character, along with tropical fruit peels, orange oil and orchard apples. There's a little nutmeg warmth, along with walnuts and cashews.

FINISH: Super oily and nutty – like marzipan and orange oil wrapped up in one.

OVERALL: Quite unusual and unexpected. Definitely worth some exploration!
