The Glenfarclas distillery is famous for its Sherry-influenced expressions and there’s not an expression more known that the Glenfarclas Aged 15 Years Single Malt. It is matured in 60% ex-Sherry casks and 40% ex-Bourbon casks. The maturation in the Bourbon casks are slightly different to the normal maturation guidelines. Before using the casks they are shaved back slightly. This allows the whisky to gain more flavour influence from the Sherry casks, resulting in a richer, fruitier whisky.
Many whisky enthusiasts and writers consider this single malt whisky to be amongst some of the best in the world.
The 10 Year Old expression has been recommended as an aperitif whisky – but it’s a much more complex scotch than you’d expect from a 10 year old. Bottled at 40% ABV
Official Tasting Notes Nose: Sherry and sweet toffee met with creamy malt Taste: Bakings spices, continued toffee and just a touch of smoke Finish: Long lasting finish, sweet and fruity
