While the Pays d'Auge Calvados benefits from a long period of ageing in oak barrels, a Calvados made from apples and pears and distilled in a column still delivers an olfactory universe dominated by fruit that is approachable from a young age. As a result, Christian Drouin opted to sell a "entry-level" Calvados that was partially manufactured in his Domfront enterprise. The high amount of perry pears combined with cider apples gives this calvados its unique flavour. Its uniqueness is also due to the soil (schist and granite) and the distillation procedure (single distillation).
