TASTING NOTES
APPEARANCE
Vibrant colour with a green hue.
AROMA
The nose exhibits white stone fruits and grapefruit.
PALATE
The palate shows intense stone fruit characters whilst showing the brightness and energy. These fruit characters are balanced by citrus acidity, subtle oak and lees complexity giving the wine its length and complexity.
REGION NOTES
This wine is made entirely from our famous HVD Vineyard, located on Hermitage Road, Pokolbin. These dry-grown blocks were planted in 1984 and 2003 and together they produce a modern style that has both richness and finesse.
WINEMAKERS COMMENTS
A premium expression of our iconic Hunter Valley family-owned estate, established in 1858. Small batch blends from some of our iconic, old vine, dry-grown, estate vineyards such as our HVD and Short Flat, all of which are Sustainable Winegrowing Australia (SWA) certified. Brought to life by the Tyrrell’s vineyard and winemaking team, who boast over four decades of experience with these vineyards and fruit, tending to the vines and making the wines by hand, focusing on two iconic Hunter Valley varietals: Chardonnay and Shiraz.
VINTAGE NOTES
2025 was an exceptional vintage in the Hunter Valley for whites. Favourable conditions throughout the early parts of harvest, coupled with abundant rain ahead of the growing season meant crops levels were high, as was the quality of fruit.
VINIFICATION
All the fruit was handpicked before immediately being basket pressed. The juice was then cold settled for two days before being racked to another stainless steel tank to begin fermentation. The fermenting juice was then transferred to tight grain French oak barriques and puncheons - with only a small percentage being new - to complete fermentation and maturation before bottling.
