Personalised Robert Stein Reserve Riesling 2023 11% 750ml

TASTING NOTES

AROMA
Typical Robert Stein in style with aromas of lime juice and citrus notes.

PALATE
With a rich mid-palate, this classic Riesling has a bone dry, crisp and racy finish.

FOOD MATCHING
Like all good rieslings, it is a perfect match for seafood, especially oysters, prawns or super fresh sashimi.

VINIFICATION
Hand-picked from the top half of our 45year old high altitude block L vineyard and then whole bunch pressed, with minimal intervention. Approximately 20% of the juice was fermented and stored in older oak barrels to gain further complexity. Fermentation was cool and slow, with extended maturation in barrel on lees for added complexity.

VINTAGE NOTES
The growing season started with excellent winter rains allowing us to concentrate on building soil and vine health. The rain continued throughout Spring during the growing season so we had to be very vigilant in the vineyards to produce excellent fruit. Summer rainfall and storms led to a tricky harvest, however our elevation and vineyard slope allowed the heavy rain events to drain out of the vineyard, and our cover crop soaked up the excess water. It was a long harvest period, with just enough sun and warmth to ripen all varieties nicely and we have great concentration and balance in all of our wines this year.
