Tasting Notes
Palate
This wine showcases depth, structure and complexity.
Region notes
Mount Pisa Vineyard, Central Otago. Selected parcels predominantly from clay and loam-based soils.
Vintage notes
High up slopes, on deep clays and pockets of loam, the vines are broad shouldered with a stoicism belying their sturdy foundations. Vines here can speak for themselves, requiring little coaxing to articulate place and time. On the final day of harvest 2021, this sturdiness was tested when powerful gusts ripped through bird nets and sent empty fermenters rolling through fields.

91 Pointsout of 100.
Ripe strawberries, raspberries and summer fruits, with some dried tobacco but far less of the dried herbal tones, and far more fruit, than many Otago Pinots. On day two, this is increasingly fragrant and aromatic in profile. Nicely dry on the palate, in contrast to the sweetness of its perfume, with some autumnal, leafy tones. Elegant, with an attractive cinnamon character on the mid-palate. Alcohol is moderate and totally inobtrusive, compared to many of its peers. Overall, this shows very impressive balance, with fine and lacy tannins, and more than nods to the Cote de Beaune in style and profile.
