Hickinbotham Clarendon Brooks Road Shiraz 2016 6pack 14% 1.5L
Tasting Notes
Palate
This is a playful shiraz, with aromas of forest strawberries and blackberry leaf; yet underlying those notes are more mature notes of cassis and blueberry, highlighted by hints of black pepper.
Vinification
Hand-picked, de-stemmed and 50% crushed whole berry sorted to open fermentation. No whole bunches. Cold Soaked. Plunged only. Approximately 16–21 days on skins. Basket pressed with light pressing included in free run, heavier pressings kept separate and not included, drained directly to barrel. Rack and returned three times during maturation.
Maturation
15 months, in a selection of Burgundy coopered barrels, of which approximately 30% new.
Region notes
Shiraz sourced from predominantly 1971 contour planted blocks and approximately 10% inclusion of 2002 planted Shiraz. 170-220m altitude on the Estate.
Cellaring potential
The tannins contribute to an elegant structure that indicates this wine’s ability to age gracefully into the future.
