The Macallan Rare Cask is the most diverse and intricate Macallan Whisky; a reinterpretation of the classic profile achieved through the widest palette of cask styles. 16 different Sherry cask styles individually hand chosen by Macallan Whisky Maker Bob Dalgarno for the character they impart to the Macallan spirit, some casks so rare they will never be used again. A high proportion is first fill Sherry Casks, and the result is a “Macallan fit for Kings”.

Nose: Rich Sherried spices, chocolate, raisins and stewed plums with a good dose of sherry. A refreshing burst of honeydew melon develops with a drop of water.

Palate: Oily malt, soaked in Oloroso and given a hit of spice. Hints of winter spices and thyme honey.

Finish: Gingerbread, old oak, orange oil and juicy raspberries.
