Chambers Grand Muscadelle 12pack 18% 375ml
Founded in 1858 by William Chambers and situated just one kilometre west of Rutherglen, on the Corowa road. The original vineyards which were replanted after phylloxera attacked the area in the late 1890's now have some irrigation, and produce low tonnages with wonderful concentrated flavour. Rosewood's fifth generation winemaker Bill Chambers OAM, handed over to son Stephen in 2001. The proud tradition of winemaking continues from the rich old fortified wines made in the early 1900s by great grandfather Will Chambers who started off the wonderful Tokay and Muscat blends which today are renowned throughout the world. The Rare Muscat and Rare Tokay consistently receive perfect, 100 out of 100 scores from the influential wine writer Robert Parker Junior of the Wine Spectator who refers to Bill as the "Master of the Fortified wine business of Australia".

Opaque, impenetrable black-ish colour, that stains the glass and moves very slowly when swirled, leaving a residue of green-ish yellow on the walls of the glass. Very old, mellow, smoky complexities showing considerable rancio. The palate is very sweet, luscious and aged with smoked toffee, malt, molasses and praline flavours that linger on endlessly accompanied by a very high level of sweetness. A great old fortified wine, which retains freshness and vitality in the face of great aged complexity and concentration. The rancio and other savoury factors result in a surprisingly dry and refreshing aftertaste.

Deep and structured, though wildly expressive. Burnt caramel, malt, mocha, vanilla bean and exotic spice. The palate is incredbily intense, with flavour hitting and filling every possible space. Plum pudding, caramel, manuka honey, raisin and dark chocolate reverberate with aplomb. The finish is long and fresh, calling you back for more.
