Tasting Notes

Appearance
Pale straw green.

Aroma
Aromas of white peach, with echoes of citrus and tropical fruits.

Palate
Evident natural acidity: dry and fine, with vibrance and zest. The oak fermentation contributes a subtle but important dimension of texture, meaning extra richness & depth. Our ’23 wine showed us the importance of several months in bottle, allowing the development of greater complexity and length.

Vinification
Pressed; briefly settled; racked with some ‘solids’ retained; fermented (1/3 in our 4 year-old French oak puncheon & the balance in stainless steel tank); blended; bottled.

Vintage notes
Chilly and variable Spring weather meant that flowering was poor and the vines set VERY little fruit, but Autumn made up for it: gently warm and dry. This ensured that natural acidity was retained while flavours developed. Lovely!

A dozen bottles seemed excessive until I tasted it again at home. Now I'm wondering was 12 enough!

The first sip delivered that distinctive flinty minerality that immediately signals something special. Beautiful poached apricot and white cherry notes dance on the palate, while subtle chamomile and honey add unexpected depth. The lemon peel brightness cuts through perfectly, with just a hint of almond complexity lingering.
What really impressed me was the wine's structure - that firm, crunchy acidity keeps everything focused and fresh. The finish is wonderfully clean with a lovely salty edge that had me reaching for the next sip before I'd fully processed the last.
This isn't a showy wine trying to impress with obvious tricks. It's confident, well-crafted, and genuinely food-friendly. The zesty, mineral-driven profile made it perfect with our seafood, but I can see it working beautifully with everything from fresh oysters to lighter Asian dishes.
At this price point, it's exceptional value. The fact that it's from Adelaide adds to the appeal - Australian winemakers continue to surprise with varietals like Albarino that shouldn't work here but absolutely do.
