Credaro Kinship Shiraz 2023 6pack 14.5% 750ml

Tasting Notes

Appearance
Vibrant dark purple with rich dense mulberry hue.

Aroma
Vibrant perfumed nose of mulberry, rich spice and blue fruits.

Palate
Lifted fruit-forward wine with flavours of mulberry and blue fruits. The wine exudes a plush, sweet-fruited, savoury midpalate. A rich, sweet spice cuts through the palate to give the wine a graphite tannin profile. The depth of fruit adds to the finish of this sweet, juicy Shiraz.

Cellaring potential
10 years.

Vinification
Two parcels of Shiraz were harvested for this wine: one from the Kyella Vineyard (Wilyabrup) and the other from our Yallingup vineyard. The fruit was destemmed to static fermenters, with whole berries partially undergoing carbonic maceration during fermentation. The wines were pumped over twice daily in tank and pressed after eight days to help retain fruit vibrancy. The wine completed malolactic fermentation in tank and matured for 10 months in 20% new French barriques. No fining was used for this Shiraz.

Vintage notes
After a relatively cold and long winter with solid rainfall, the growing season had a late start, followed by later-than- average budburst. Cool, wet weather extended into early spring however, favourable fruit set occurred across most varieties, resulting in well-balanced yields. Late spring and summer arrived quickly, bringing drier conditions with mild temperatures. These conditions continued into the red harvest, with early-ripening varieties picked in excellent condition despite the later-than-average vintage. Minor rainfall in early April was followed by favourable autumn weather, allowing Cabernet Sauvignon extended ripening to develop tannin maturity and flavour before the traditional ANZAC Day benchmark. A significant rain event on 23–24 April occurred after all fruit had been harvested and secured in the winery. One notable challenge throughout the harvest was the complete lack of Marri blossom, which increased bird pressure in the vineyards and made netting essential. Overall, 2023 proved to be an excellent vintage in Margaret River.

Maturation
10 months in 20% new French barriques.
