Nick Spencer Wines Gold Label Tumbarumba Chardonnay 2019 12% 750ML

Nick Spencer Wines Gold Label Tumbarumba Chardonnay 2019 12% 750ml

Nick Spencer describes this drop as "Tumbarumba in a bottle". A great example of the region's chardonnay, Nick believes that the 2018 vintage has produced some of the best fruit he has seen in the past decade. Vibrant green apple and white peach aromas linger on the nose, with slight crushed rock notes. Beautifully restrained power in the palate, subtle complexity and a devine length. Smashing drop!

Tasting Notes: The Maragle vineyard is located at the southern tip of Tumbarumba towards the Victorian Border. Unlike many other vineyards in Tumbarumba, the Vineyard only lies at 450 meters above sea level making it one of the lower altitude vineyards in the region. Fruit from this vineyard ripens earlier than other vineyards and generally produces a more powerful robust style of chardonnay than the higher altitdue sites. The soil is decomposed granite and is relatively light in colour. The vineyards are now almost 30 years old and are grown on a smart dyson canopy system.

Expert Review:

James Halliday- 95 Points, Tumbarumba and chardonnay. Two wonderful words working in unison. This is all flinty and fine, citrusy and spicy, with a touch of white stone fruit. The palate is linear and long, with hints of leesy/creamy flavours giving some extra depth; so, too, cedary oak and toasty notes. Savoury, moreish and fabulous.
