Louis Roederer Cristal Brut 2013 12% 750ml Gift Boxed

Louis Roederer Cristal Brut 2013 Gift Boxed 12% 750ml

Cristal is the pinnacle of the Roederer family and a world leader in Champagne excellence. The last vintage harvested in October, the only one in two decades, Cristal 2013 continues the great tradition of balance and purity that has made it legendary. This glistening drop has the most refined, soft bubbles that carry the heavenly lemon, orange, lily and hazelnut aromas to an explosive intensity, opening up to peaches, apricots, melon and mango. The mouth-feel is rounded, complex and full of concentrated fruit. This is the ultimate Champagne for life’s most special moments.

Tasting Notes: Gentle, tactile and full-bodied on the palate. The bubbles create a gentle, vibrating sensation, then the wine becomes soft, dense and juicy. But it is the chalky freshness that quickly sets the tone: the sweetness becomes energetic and intense, giving the wine an elegant yet powerful texture. Fine, textured tannins reveal a poised and vinous dimension to the wine. The finish is savoury and saline.

Louis Roederer today remains one of the very few remaining family owned Houses in Champagne with 7th generation Frederic Rouzaud at the helm. From the 100 hectares acquired in 1850 by Louis Roederer, the Domaine today extends over 240 hectares averaging 98% on the official Echelle classification. All vineyard acquisitions follow Louis Roederer’s strict 70% policy – that is ownership of at least 70% of the total production. All Louis Roederer Cuvees are Estate grown with the exception of Brut Premier which is 60% estate fruit and 40% fruit sourced from long-term contracted growers.

Louis Roederer farm 65 Ha of their Domaine vineyards under a biodynamic and organic regime as part of what Chef de Cave Jean-Baptiste Lécaillon says is a work in progress. In 2012 Louis Roederer became the largest biodynamic producer in Champagne.
