His son Roberto succeeded him, but it was Roberto's daughter Paola, on her return from Milano to Dogliani at the end of the 1980s, who with tenacity, enthusiasm and significant investment, re-launched this historic brand and went about improving wine quality. Today it is her son, fourth generation Matteo Sardagna, who is at the helm. Long sojourns in the Langhe as a child with his grandfather and mother left Matteo with a deeply-rooted passion for the family's values and customs. Today the winery is equipped with unique cement egg-like fermenting tanks, and botti of varying sizes and age so that Matteo and his team can produce wines which reflect their terroir, and the traditional style of the region and the estate.

Variety: Nebbiolo
Region: Dogliani, Piedmont, Italy
Winemaker: Matteo Sardagna

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2435/3999/products/Untitleddesign-2022-01-14T075659.230_d919af33-37fd-4270-ab26-ec1a27d78c6c.jpg?v=1642118474
personalised-giovanni-rosso-barolo-serra-docg-2019-14-750ml-1
Personalised Giovanni Rosso Barolo Serra DOCG 2019 14% 750ml

Personalised Giovanni Rosso Barolo Serra DOCG 2019 14% 750ml

The fermentation lasts some 25 days according to the vintage with daily pumping over of the wine mass with délestages at half of the period (fermentation in concrete tanks).

Expert Review:
Gary Walsh- 94points, A Red fruit, cherry, orange zest, exotic spice, with some tea and earth. During the 1980's, Giovanni Rosso restructured the vineyards with the aim of producing the best possible wines, and in 2001, Giovanni's son Davide took charge of winemaking, following his own mantra "wine should be a perfect copy of its terroir". In 2010 the prized Serralunga d'Alba Cru vineyard, Vigna Rionda, was inherited from Davide's cousin, Tommaso Canale. Davide replanted three-quarters to nebbiolo, the remaining quarter being magnificent old vine nebbiolo, planted in 1946. Davide makes two wines, both named in honour of his mother, Ester Canale: the Nebbiolo Langhe Rosso (young vine) and the Barolo Vigna Rionda Rosso (old vine). In 2016 Davide purchased a small plot at 750 m.a.s.l on Mt Etna, close to the village of Solicchiata, in Passopisciaro with 4.5 Ha planted to nerello mascalese and 1.5 Ha of carricente, farmed organically.

Variety: Nebbiolo
Region: Piedmont & Sicily, Italy
Winemaker: Davide Rosso & Andrea Delpiano
//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2435/3999/files/GiovanniRossoBaroloDOCGSerra2019_e0e7bae0-0f8e-46ec-a31a-a8ab245b3dda.jpg?v=1711363118
personalised-mt-brave-mt-veeder-cabernet-sauvignon-2019-14-5-750ml
Personalised Mt. Thin, rocky soils and steep slopes make water retention a challenge and erosion a threat, but the vines benefit from the struggle and produce concentrated flavors. The Mount Edelstone Vineyard was planted in 1912 by Ronald Angas, a descendant of George Fife Angas who founded The South Australian Company and played a significant role in the formation and establishment of South Australia. Unusual for its time, the vineyard was planted solely to shiraz. The ancient 500-million-year -old geology in the vineyard has given rise to soils that are deep red-brown clay-loam to clay, resulting in low yields from the ungrafted centenarian vines. The wine was first bottled as a single-vineyard shiraz in 1952 by fourth-generation Cyril Henschke. By the time Cyril purchased the vineyard from Colin Angas in 1974, Mount Edelstone was already well entrenched as one of Australia’s greatest shiraz wines. Crafted by the Henschke family for 70 years now, Mount Edelstone is one of the longest consecutively produced single-vineyard wines in Australia.

CELLARING POTENTIAL

Exceptional vintage; 30 + years from vintage.

VINTAGE NOTES

The winter of 2021 brought good rainfall, refilling soil profiles, and the cool, slow start to the growing season resulted in budburst occurring two weeks later than average. An extreme hail event on 28 October decimated the young shoot growth across our vineyards in Keyneton, significantly reducing crop potential. Late flowering (late November to early December) avoided the cold and windy conditions, resulting in good fruit set, albeit with smaller yields. A burst of summer heat, without extremes, supported berry development and balanced canopy growth. Welcome rain in late January occurred just before veraison and ripening, leading into a mild and dry finish to summer . The 2022 vintage was late, with harvest dates one to two weeks later than the historical average. The resulting wines speak faithfully of their place, with elegance, distinction and enduring beauty . Reminiscent of the high-quality vintages of 1991, 1999, 2005, 2006, 2010 and 2015, the 2022 single-vineyard wines show wonderful ageing potential and will reward long-term cellaring under ideal conditions.

MATURATION

Matured in 8% new and 92% seasoned French oak hogsheads for 20 months prior to blending and bottling.

ABOUT THIS PRODUCT

Country: Australia

Region: Eden Valley

Vintage: 2022

Variety: Shiraz & Shiraz Blends

alcohol volume: 14.5

closure: Screwcap

volume: 750

weight: 1.75kg

wine style: Red (Full Bodied)

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/2435/3999/files/Henschke_Mount_Edelstone_Shiraz_2022_Gift_Boxed.jpg?v=1781169400
personalised-pio-cesare-barbaresco-il-bricco-2019-14-5-750ml
Personalised Pio Cesare Barbaresco Il Bricco 2019 14.5% 750ML

Personalised Pio Cesare Barbaresco Il Bricco 2019 14.5% 750ML

Pio Cesare have been making wines in their ancient cellars in central Alba for 141 years, from their vineyards based primarily in Barolo and Barbaresco.
